Day 1 of the Taupō Super400 saw great improvements for the Shell V-Power Racing Team in the 90-minute Practice session, which carried over to Day 2. A wet qualifying session to start the day saw Anton De Pasquale qualify P2 and Will Davison qualify P4.
As the wet weather worsened throughout the Top Ten Shootout, significant rain in the second half of the shootout hampered the team's chances at a competitive time, which resulted in De Pasquale starting Race 7in P9 and Davison starting in P10.
At the end of an action-packed race, the Shell V-Power Racing Team finished with a Double Podium for the inaugural race in Taupō! Davison moved up the grid 8 places to finish P2 and De Pasquale moved up the grid 6 places to finish P3.
DE PASQUALE - QUOTE
"Our first Double Podium in Gen3 which is awesome, especially in such an intense race. You never know when you walk into the track and it’s belting down with rain what’s going to come out the other side, there’s so many things and so many unknowns, so to walk away with a couple of trophies we’re pretty happy! It was sort of a faultless race for us, we chipped away and chipped away and got there. We worked hard to get good points, we had a couple of DNF’s at AGP so to get some points in a 150 race is awesome! So we’ll try and do that again tomorrow and keep chipping away.”
DAVISON - QUOTE "Wow, what a day, a full-on day I suppose we were finally pretty happy with our drive pace yesterday but we all knew the rain was going to affect us today. Our quali session before the shootout was pretty tight but sitting in P2 and P4 going into the shootout. Shootout didn’t go to plan with the way the weather sort of changed throughout but it was a good race, an important race and important result for us now. Yeah good timing, crazy day, what can I say, the race was just nuts! I was having a bit of a crack early on and made some good moves and then it was just a real seesaw, probably in some of the toughest conditions I’ve ever raced in. But it's an amazing result for the team and I'm looking forward to what tomorrow will bring!”
