It was a promising start for Day 2 of the Townsville 500 with Will Davison, in the No.17 Shell V-Power Racing Team, taking out provisional pole & teammate Anton De Pasquale, in the No.11 Shell V-Power Mustang, qualifying P4. After the Top Ten Shootout Davison started Race 13 in P4 and De Pasquale in P7. In the first lap of the race, De Pasquale was caught in an incident that saw him suffer severe damage, resulting in a DNF. Davison finished Race 13 in P8.

"We had a good start to the day with both cars making the Top Ten Shootout, which was great for the team. I didn't have the best lap in the shoot-out, but it wasn't too bad. Then in the race unfortunately I didn't make it past the first couple of corners, I got caught in a sandwich that bent all of the steering and unfortunately we couldn't recover from it. So a disappointing end to the day, but we'll give it another crack tomorrow."

DAVISON - QUOTE ‍"All in all a lot of positives from the day with the provisional pole! Plus I was having a really fun race until the last stint, where with about 20 laps to go I lost all competitiveness and grip on the tyres. Otherwise, the car was great for the whole race; we were in contention there for the podium and completely lost everything with 20 to go. So whether it's damaged a tyre or just something's gone a miss, it's a bit disheartening because we were sort of faultless and in a good, competitive spot. So it's frustrating when you put most of the pieces together for a great day and something really weird seems to rob you. So now we'll try and find out what it is, but it was good fun and we'll try again tomorrow." ‍
