In the drivers' words:

Brodie Kostecki:

"It was nice to bring home P4 in the Shell V-Power Mustang," Kostecki said.

"Overall a very up and down day. We started off practice quite a bit down the order and made some changes going into qualifying and was quite surprised with the improvement.
The car was a fair bit better, but still a little bit off the front runners.

"Unfortunately then made a mistake going to turn one (in qualifying) on my cool down lap and locked the front and didn't want to ruin the tyre for the race, so I had to run off and that caused the red flag, so we lost our fastest time. We put another set of tyres on, went back out, recovered that and set us up out of P5 for the first race today.

"From there it was good to come home P4 and starting off P9 for tomorrow's race so there's a bit of work to do on Friday."

Will Davison:

"The race was a lot, actually a lot of fun, not that I wanted to be coming from the back there," Davison said.

"We started the day pretty well in practice. We were feeling pretty good through the sessions but unfortunately we had some some dramas through qualifying. So we didn't show our true potential.

"You see the amount of carnage (in the race), so to survive and make up quite a lot of spots was a reasonable finish to the day. Obviously we've got another tough starting spot tomorrow, but we're just trying to learn about the car so we're strong for Saturday. That's really where our focus lays when we qualify again on Saturday."
