SHELL V-POWER RACING TEAM GEN3 REVEAL
The Shell V-Power Racing Team has today revealed their new look Gen3 Ford Mustang GT Supercar ahead of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship.
With a refreshed look on its iconic livery, the Ford Mustang GT remains a true representation of the Shell V-Power Cars that fans have come to know and love.
Will Davison, driver of the iconic No.17 Shell V-Power Mustang GT shared his excitement of the reveal. “The car looks fantastic, it’s different - as soon as you see it, it looks tough, it looks fast, it looks slick! With our cars built here we’ve been able to really refine the build and now it’s time for us to get in and get comfortable. There’s a lot of new things ahead of us that we need to understand, but we’re all pumped to see it on the track and get the year underway.”
Anton De Pasquale, driver of the No.11 Shell V-Power Ford Mustang GT can’t wait to hit the track in the new Gen3. “I’m super excited for this new generation of Supercars, it’s a different look for our team. The livery is a little bit different but still looks as iconic as we know the Shell V-Power colours are. Everyone in the workshop has been working super hard, so I’m looking forward to that first day the cars roll out and hopefully it brings us a lot of success along the way.”
This move to the Gen3 Ford Mustang Supercar will boast some big changes for the next generation of Supercars, including a greater resemblance of a road car than its predecessors. Other important changes will be found in the downforce and the aerodynamics of the cars, as well as a significant shift towards control components. All of these changes will contribute to making 2023 one of the most exciting seasons in the history of Supercars.
Shell V-Power Racing Team Principal Ben Croke says“This has been the biggest change for the Supercar platform in over two decades. The change is exciting. It’s special to be a part of such a big shift in sport, especially something that looks so good and resembles the actual road going version of the car.”
Dick Johnson, Racing Legend and Co-Owner of Shell V-Power Racing Team, says he is looking forward to seeing how the ‘young guys’ can handle it. “I’ve been fortunate enough to do a couple of laps at Bathurst in the Gen3 Car and I’m pretty excited for the fact that a lot of the drivers are going to find it very different from the previous car. In this particular category, normally, cream usually rises to the top and one would hope that we’re the thickest cream.”
Testing of the Gen3 Ford Mustang GT will continue throughout February before the Shell V-Power Racing Team hits the the track for Round 1 of the Repco Supercars Championship in Newcastle from 10th – 12th March.
