DAY 3 RECAP

Day 3 of the Newcastle 500 proved a difficult start for the Shell V-Power Racing Team. Davison sat pretty consistently across the top ten for the majority of the 20-minute qualifying round, however, finished in P14 after a three-position penalty for impeding Car No.9 on Turn 11; while De Pasquale finished in P21.

Starting Race 2 mid-pack and back of the pack, De Pasquale overtakes Car No.22 in the first lap and rises to P19. After an incident on the start grid, all cars were pitted with a red flag flying over the track, while repairs are done to damage on the pit wall. Throughout the race, Davison suffered rear damage with patchwork repairs done on Pit Stop 1.

After a trying 250kms around a difficult street circuit and a massive effort by Anton De Pasquale & Will Davison, De Pasquale finished in P16 and Davison finished in P19 for Race 2 of the 2023 Repco Supercar Championship.

With a few issues to be resolved, there are also plenty of takeaways and learnings for the team, but no doubt also lots of work to be done ahead of Round 2 at the Melbourne SuperSprint. However, the Shell V-Power Racing Team anticipate a stronger return when they hit the track again in Melbourne.

DE PASQUALE QUOTE
"Not the ideal first weekend for us, there's a lot of work to be done but we'll keep our heads high and work it out."

W. DAVISON QUOTE
"A big thanks to everyone in the team, obviously this weekend didn't go the way we had planned - we're all hurting but we will bounce back. "
