DAY 1 RECAP
Day 1 of the Repco Bathurst 1000 kicked off with two one-hour practice sessions. The wet weather had been threatening to throw a few spanners in the works. However, the weather held off for practice 1 with dry running for the entirety of the session.

Will Davison and Anton De Pasquale took to the track for P1, with both drivers starting on a wet race run set-up before moving towards a dry race run set-up as the session progressed. De Pasquale touched the fence at the exit of Forrest Elbow with approximately 18 minutes remaining in the session. De Pasquale didn’t get back out on track after the incident to simulate qualifying runs. As the session came closer to the end, Davison went out on a qualifying set-up before a red flag prematurely ended the session with three minutes remaining.

At the conclusion of P1, Davison finished in P1 and De Pasquale finished in P8.

Alex Davison and Tony D’Alberto got behind the wheel of their respective Shell V-Power Ford Mustangs for the final practice session of the day.

A. Davison and D’Alberto started the session by completing race runs ahead of the weekend’s race to allow themselves to familiarise themselves and get comfortable with the car. After two red flags, the session concluded with A. Davison finishing in P13 and D’Alberto finishing in P23.

DE PASQUALE QUOTE
“We had a couple of practice sessions today, one each for Tony and I. We somehow managed to get two pretty dry sessions. We learnt a couple of things but I think the weather is coming tomorrow, but you never know. So, we will see what it is like most likely in the wet tomorrow and go from there.”

D'ALBERTO QUOTE
“I had a tricky first session, the balance of the car didn’t inspire a lot of confidence. The first session of the weekend, you want a car that gives you confidence and we didn’t quite nail that. I didn’t feel quite in tune with the whole thing and we’ve got a bit of work to do. We know why, but it didn’t help me in that session as it was too late to back out of it.

“We have some work to do, but the conditions are going to be very different tomorrow.”

W. DAVISON QUOTE
“We had a good day, we had dry running in the end. My session this morning was drying all the time with quite a lot of wet patches across the entire track. We were able to get a read on some of the things we wanted to try today and it was good to get a read in the dry and I was pretty happy with how it felt and went quickest.

“Alex also had a good, solid session. He dropped down the order in the last part of the session, but we didn’t put him on a new set of tyres. He looked consistent and comfortable. A good, solid first day in the books.”

A. DAVISON QUOTE
“Overall, we had a good day. First session for me is about getting up to speed, getting comfortable, and understanding the car and we achieved that. We were going pretty well during the session. I think the result at the end really tell the story, I just didn’t get a lap after the red flag. But happy with how we are tracking, overall the car feels good.”
