Day One of Indigenous Round is in the books, Anton De Pasquale and Will Davison completed two practice sessions ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying and race.

The first Indigenous Round on the Supercars calendar kicked off in Larrakia today. The day started with Larrakia Elerder Aunty June Mills performing a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony ahead of the weekend’s racing.

Practice 1 was a session of race runs for Anton De Pasquale in the No. 11 Shell V-Power Ford Mustang GT. The session was very similar for teammate Will Davison in the No. 17 Shell V-Power Racing Team Mustang, with a race set-up on the car and shorter runs. De Pasquale finished the session in P16 and Davison in P14 ahead of the final practice session of the weekend.

The conditions warmed up for Practice 2, with De Pasquale and Davison starting the session on used tyres before coming in for a set of green Super Soft tyres. De Pasquale finished the session in P3 and Davison in P4.

“Today was a good day, we’ll take a look at everything overnight and make a couple of changes and hopefully be somewhere at the front tomorrow.

“Racing is going to be pretty tough and how that new tyre rule pans out, we’re not too sure yet, so we will see that through tomorrow, given all that you want to be at the front somewhere so hopefully, that is where we are.

“The circuit is pretty much the same, it’s cool, there’s a lot of people out here and it seems like there will be a lot over the weekend. The weekend is going to be a cool event and it’s always good to be up in Darwin.”

“It’s great to be back in Darwin, our cars look sensational, it’s a credit to everyone.

“Overall we had a good day, we were up there in the second practice session on the green tyres. We will debrief this afternoon and make a few tweaks ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying session and race.”
